The technical committee in charge of the io.js group voted yesterday to join the Node.js Foundation, according to VentureBeat.

When the Node.js Foundation launched earlier this year as a method for overseeing the development of the Node.js project, the io.js group didn’t join immediately. Kind of a big deal when a number of significant Node contributors are a part of io.js.

Today’s vote means that Node.js and io.js projects will eventually merge, with all subsequent releases being called “node.”
